Catalyst Convenings

The California Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) and the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) are hosting a series of regional Catalyst Convenings across the state to help each region advance community-driven climate and land use priorities. We kicked off this series in 2025 in the San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Bay Area regions, and we’re continuing around the state with the 2026 Catalyst Convenings.

Coming up next: The Central Coast Catalyst Convening, which will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Salinas. Space is limited!

Convening Overview

Each Convening brings together approximately 150 regional leaders and state agency representatives to highlight regional case studies, share the work of the California Fifth Climate Change Assessment, enable participants to engage directly with state agencies, and to elevate land use, climate and energy priorities. The outcome of each Convening is a set of regional and state actions, guided by facilitated workshops using UC Berkeley Possibility Lab’s I.M.P.A.C.T. model. These actions will be presented to SGC’s Council upon the conclusion of the nine regional Convenings.

Goals

  • Exchange knowledge, best practices, and successes about community-driven efforts.
  • Connect directly with state representatives and regional assistance providers to learn about and better leverage available resources, upcoming grant programs, technical assistance and capacity building programs, active engagement opportunities, and more.
  • Understand the region’s priorities and co-create a set of regional and state focused policy actions, to guide SGC’s strategic planning and work.
