SGC Council
SGC is governed by a multi-agency Council composed of 10 members — three public members, one each appointed by the Governor, the Senate, and the Assembly; and the seven Cabinet members — all of whom serve SGC’s mission with their extensive leadership and expertise in land use planning, local government, resource protection and management, public health, and community development and revitalization.
SGC Catalyst Convenings and Conference
The California Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) and the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) are hosting a series of regional Catalyst Convenings across the state to help each region advance community-driven climate and land use priorities. We kicked off this series in 2025 in the San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Bay Area regions, and we’re continuing around the state with the 2026 Catalyst Convenings. Next up: The Central Coast Convening on March 17. These began in 2024 with the SGC Catalyst Conference: Progress in Place: From Power Building to Project Implementation in Sacramento, where we heard about the importance of a regional focus.
California Land Equity Task Force
Announced in the California Budget Act of 2022 (AB-179), the California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force (Task Force) has developed recommendations to equitably increase access to agricultural land for food production and traditional tribal agricultural uses. The Task Force met quarterly and delivered a full report of recommendations to the Legislature and Governor by Jan. 1, 2026.
