Public Records Act Requests
Under both the California Constitution and the California Public Records Act (PRA), the public has a right to inspect or copy non-exempt public records maintained by state and local government agencies. Public records include any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public’s business prepared, owned, used, or retained by the public agency. (Gov. Code, § 6252.)
Access to Public Records Online
SGC maintains many records online that are available to the public without a PRA request. Examples of those documents include but are not limited to
- Current round grant program funding guidelines and resources
- SGC Council Meeting recordings and outreach webinar recordings
- SGC assessments and technical assistance guidelines
Submitting a PRA Request to SGC
PRA requests may be made verbally or in writing. The simplest way to submit a PRA request is by emailing SGC.PRArequests@sgc.ca.gov. Additionally, requests may be made in person at SGC’s office, or over the phone by calling (916) 322-2318.
To assist our staff with a prompt and accurate record search, please provide as much detail and specificity as possible in all requests. (Gov. Code § 6253, subd. (b).)
