Online Hub to Broaden Access to State Racial Equity Resources and Initiatives

SACRAMENTO, CA. ¬– The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) today announced the launch of a Racial Equity Resource Hub, a portal including over 90 racial equity resources and initiatives sourced from across State government. The launch follows the unanimous decision by the Strategic Growth Council last November to create a central resource for state practitioners and partners to access and advance racial equity across government.

“Key to building a California for All is dismantling historic inequities that have for too long have harmed our communities of color, low-income neighborhoods, and California Native American tribes,” said Governor’s Office of Planning and Research Director Samuel Assefa, Chair of the California Strategic Growth Council. “We must call out, be accountable to, and correct systemic racism to build a more just future for all Californians. Building broad understanding and galvanizing action across our agencies and partners is the goal of the Racial Equity Resource Hub introduced today.”

The development of the Resource Hub builds on the SGC’s unanimous adoption of a nationally recognized Racial Equity Resolution, prompting the development of racial equity action plans and subsequent changes to programmatic, investment, and operations-related actions by council agencies.

“The Strategic Growth Council recognizes that racial equity is at the very center of building thriving, resilient, and healthy California Communities,” said Lynn von Koch-Liebert, Executive Director of the California Strategic Growth Council. “The Resource Hub is intended to broaden access and build common understanding about best practices and lessons learned in operationalizing racial equity in state government and beyond.”

The resource hub includes over 90 resources from several dozen State entities organized across eight different categories, including racial equity action plans, funding resources, data tools, communications resources, and groups and initiatives. The hub will be updated on an ongoing basis to reflect new resources and progress.

The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) is the State host to the Capitol Collaborative on Race & Equity(CCORE), a racial equity capacity building program for California State employees coordinated through the Public Health Institute’s (PHI) Health in All Policies Initiative.
