The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) is pleased to invite public comment on the Community Resilience Centers (CRC) Program Round 1 Draft Guidelines. This new grant program will fund new construction and upgrades of neighborhood-level resilience centers to provide shelter and resources during climate and other emergencies. The program will also fund year-round services and ongoing programming that build overall community resilience. The public comment period runs from December 7, 2022, to January 27, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

This draft incorporates feedback received through focus groups, key informant interviews, and five public listening sessions conducted earlier in 2022. Please provide feedback by January 27, 2023. Your feedback will inform a final version of the program guidelines.

Providing Public Comment

SGC will accept written comments submitted to CRC@sgc.ca.gov through January 27, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

SGC is also hosting a series of virtual public workshops to give stakeholders the opportunity to learn about the proposed program requirements and offer feedback. To kick off this series, staff will host a virtual Statewide workshop on Tuesday, December 20th, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to provide an overview of the program and guidelines development process. This session is open to all throughout the state and will be recorded in English and Spanish and posted to the SGC YouTube channel. If you are interested in attending this virtual workshop, please register here.

Staff will hold additional virtual workshops in January organized by region and by audience. To support the development of new partnerships for potential applications, each workshop will include an optional networking space for attendees to meet and connect with potential co-applicants at the end of the session. The following delineation of regions is only a suggestion to better facilitate relationship building.Spanish translation will be offered for the Southern California and Statewide virtual workshops. Attendees are encouraged to participate where it makes the most sense to them and are welcome to attend multiple Workshops’ networking sessions if their work spans various regions.

Virtual Public Workshops
