SGC Catalyst Model Collaborative Governance Model: Ongoing Commitment and Continued Support

Collaborative governance structures can support invested parties in cooperating indefinitely, positioning participants to develop future funding proposals and community-led projects together.

Outcomes

  • Expands the impact of individual projects by generating sustained collaboration
  • Establishes structures of continuity that can facilitate future project development
  • Leads to higher funding success rates and better project outcomes in the future through a process of sustained community-led oversight and evaluation
  • Promotes a long-term vision and builds momentum and relationships that outlast a singular project or entity

How to Do This

Support community-based organizations in creating and sustaining strong networks anchored in community needs.

As a recipient of a Transformative Climate Communities grant, Watts Rising has generated sustained community engagement, demonstrating how collaborative governance structures can successfully guide equitable project implementation while enabling partners to continue collaborating on further community priorities and pursuing funding that ensures ongoing community benefits.

Ensure that outcomes are shared widely, and that feedback is incorporated into future efforts.

Developed through a stakeholder-driven process, the Climate Change Research Program’s Research Investment Plan guides the development and implementation of its investments. The Council regularly updates this plan with diverse input to ensure that future investments address changing policy and community needs.
